I'm a con-man, only the best.

Oz the Great and Powerful had an amazing debut this weekend, ringing in estimations of around $80 million at the box office. It stars James Franco, Mila Kunis, Michelle Williams and Rachel Weisz. Franco plays Oscar Diggs, aka "Oz",  and he finds himself falling into the Land of Oz where he meets the three witches, Theodora (Kunis), Evanora (Weisz) and Glinda (Williams). I think that it's refreshing to see how the great wizard of Oz became who he is in the 1939 film, "The Wizard of Oz".

Before the release of this movie, Walt Disney created this whole interactive website in partnership with Google Chrome for promotions. I visited the website and I had a blast playing around with the games and tools that were available. Audiences have the option to visit the circus where Oz worked as a magician, where they can make their own "moving pictures" or visit the circus photo booth!  At the end of their journey, the latest movie trailer is shown. After the fun and games, audiences are allowed to share their work with friends on various social media platforms, like Facebook or Twitter.

You can find the website link here: http://www.findyourwaytooz.com/ . This website was chosen as site of the month by the Favourite Website Awards (FWA). I would encourage you to "Find your way to Oz" by going on this website or better yet, to a movie theatre near you! Here are my creative moving pictures, terribly sorry if I offend anybody with my horrible acting! http://www.findyourwaytooz.com/preview/zoe/120070100423883005

Also, here are some concept art from the movie. The animations and settings were amazing.

Superbowl Weekend

So…yeah, that’s happening this weekend. As you can tell, I don’t watch much football. BUT I do watch some (key word: some) sports movie, which involves SOME or A LOT of the football tossing.

One of the things I do enjoy from this festive weekend are all the amazing (usually inappropriate and somewhat funny) ads that appear during the breaks and half-time. I'll post the top ones after Sunday. But for now, let me share with you some of my favourite football movies (partially because they were the only ones I've watched. . . so far!)

1) The Blind Side (2009) - because Sandra Bullock starred in this, she’s awesome, just ask Oscar (ha!)

2) Rudy (1993) - it’s the story of a scrappy fellow who wanted to play football, and took a bunch of crap from some players, had a tragedy but, obviously, ended up winning! (scrappy fellow = Rudy = Sean Astin = Sam from Lord of the Rings)

Cheers football fans, watchers, players, and the like! Goodluck!

Fave Trailers of the Week

All the trailers below, are the films that I've been waiting for a good long year to arrive! I'm very excited that these full length trailers are available for me to share them with you!

Mood Indigo
"take me on that a train"

The title was named after the famous jazz song from jazz musician Duke Ellington, which makes me even MORE excited for this film to be released! Mood Indigo stars French stars Audrey Tautou (Amelie, the Da Vinci's Code) and Romain Duris (The Beat That My Heart Skipped, Heartbreaker), whom were directed by Michael Gondry (man that did Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind). I'm expecting a lot of quirky-ness, a plethora of imaginations and impossibilities that will make this film possibly amazing and romantic!

Here's the synopsis:

"A woman suffers from an unusual diseases caused by a flower growing in her lungs"

In this world, people happen to just drive around in cloud cars, so I'm assuming illnesses caused by flowers might be a norm. . . or not.

Paperman

When you want someone's attention, build them a paper plane.

I just finished watching this sweet short by director John Kahrs, "Paperman", produced by the Walt Disney Animation Studios, and it's nominated for an Oscar in this year's Best Animated Short Film category. This combines 2D and 3D animation, while it merges hand-drawn and computer-generated images together to offer the audience a more dynamic view on animated films! Below is a quick inside look by Kahrs, while he talks about the concepts and methodology he took to create this amazing piece.

Here's the synopsis:

"The short follows the story of a lonely young man in New York City, whose destiny takes an unexpected turn after a chance meeting with a beautiful woman on his morning commute. Convinced the girl of his dreams is gone forever, he gets a second chance when he spots her in a skyscraper window across the avenue from his office, and sets out to get her attention"

It is such a sweet and "hopelessly romantic" film. I really recommend spending 6 minutes (give and take) to check it out!

Follow me on Tumblr!

As said in my title!

I've been updating a bunch more on my tumblr account, which can be found at /http://jlt-movies.tumblr.com/ (i know, such an original user name!) I find that it is much easier to share pictures and re-blog articles faster, and the tumblr community is pretty responsive and supportive. You'd be surprised as to how many people re-blogged my "Moorise Kingdom" pictures, (actually not really, that movie was indie-ly-awsome!)

So, please check it out for more film and media related news and photos!

Blog to you soon!

Cheers!
