"I'm gonna die a virg"
This movie stars Alison Brie (Community, Mad Men) and Lizzy Caplan (Mean Girls, Bachelorette) and it has a great "500 Days of Summer" feel to it. I love romantic films that "tell it like it is!", and tries to emulate whatever real life romance is. I love both Bri and Caplan, since their stints on Mad Men and New Girl, respectively. It comes on out VOD on November 8th 2012 and in theaters December 14th 2012.
Here's the synopsis:
After an ill-timed and very public marriage proposal, fiercely independent Sarah (Caplan) breaks up with her overeager boyfriend Kevin (Arend). Sarah turns to her sister Beth (Brie) for support, but Beth is too busy obsessing over the details of her own wedding to Kevin’s band mate, Andrew (Starr). When Sarah suddenly finds herself caught up in an intense rebound romance with the adorable Jonathan (Webber), she is forced to examine her own fears of commitment and vulnerability. With honesty, heart, and humor, all five struggle with the trials, happiness, and pain of modern love. In the end Sarah must decide – is it better to stay safely single or to risk it all on love?

"I thought that everything was possible, until real life hits you"
This one stars Josh Radnor (How I Met Your Mother) and my new found favourite rising star Elizabeth Olsen (Silent House, Martha Marcy May Marlene). Miss Olsen has been the next fresh face of Hollywood and she is extremely adorable (in interviews) and a great dresser! She's currently filming "Old Boy" with Josh Brolin, and it's a Korean remake of the same name. I'm excited to see where her acting chops will take her. This movie was directed and written by Radnor himself and I find that his debut movie, Happythankyoumoreplease, is very much about the "self-brooding", "teen/adult angst" and "love never is what it seems" type which has overlapping themes in this movie. AND I LOVE IT! You add Elizabeth Olsen to the mix and I'm ordering it on VOD ASAP. This movie came out in 2012 and it's probably available on DVD. You should seriously check it out!
Here's the synopsis:
(this is from wikipedia-it's very short, that's how you know the film is super indie)
Jesse, a 35 year old college admissions office who loves literature and language, returns to his alma mater to attend a retirement ceremony for a beloved professor. While there he meets 19-year old Zibby, whose love of literature thrills him. They become pen pals, among other things.
I also wanted to add this trailer for all the indie-rom-com lovers out there:
" To die by your side, is such a heavenly way to die!"
(This movie soundtrack happens to be the soundtrack to my life sometimes. )
Cheers and Keep Warm!
