Fave Trailers of the Week-Boy Meets Girl, Girl Meets Boy Edition

Hey! it's been a while (again) but I had to share these quirky and cute indie rom-coms with you all! I also added some films titles that were released a couple months ago, but I think that it'll fit with the theme this week!

Save the Date
"I'm gonna die a virg"

This movie stars Alison Brie (Community, Mad Men) and Lizzy Caplan (Mean Girls, Bachelorette) and it has a great "500 Days of Summer" feel to it. I love romantic films that "tell it like it is!", and tries to emulate whatever real life romance is. I love both Bri and Caplan, since their stints on Mad Men and New Girl, respectively. It comes on out VOD on November 8th 2012 and in theaters December 14th 2012.

Here's the synopsis:

After an ill-timed and very public marriage proposal, fiercely independent Sarah (Caplan) breaks up with her overeager boyfriend Kevin (Arend). Sarah turns to her sister Beth (Brie) for support, but Beth is too busy obsessing over the details of her own wedding to Kevin’s band mate, Andrew (Starr). When Sarah suddenly finds herself caught up in an intense rebound romance with the adorable Jonathan (Webber), she is forced to examine her own fears of commitment and vulnerability. With honesty, heart, and humor, all five struggle with the trials, happiness, and pain of modern love. In the end Sarah must decide – is it better to stay safely single or to risk it all on love?

Liberal Arts
"I thought that everything was possible, until real life hits you"

This one stars Josh Radnor (How I Met Your Mother) and my new found favourite rising star Elizabeth Olsen (Silent House, Martha Marcy May Marlene). Miss Olsen has been the next fresh face of Hollywood and she is extremely adorable (in interviews) and a great dresser! She's currently filming "Old Boy" with Josh Brolin, and it's a Korean remake of the same name. I'm excited to see where her acting chops will take her. This movie was directed and written by Radnor himself and I find that his debut movie, Happythankyoumoreplease, is very much about the "self-brooding", "teen/adult angst" and "love never is what it seems" type which has overlapping themes in this movie. AND I LOVE IT! You add Elizabeth Olsen to the mix and I'm ordering it on VOD ASAP. This movie came out in 2012 and it's probably available on DVD. You should seriously check it out!

Here's the synopsis:
(this is from wikipedia-it's very short, that's how you know the film is super indie)

Jesse, a 35 year old college admissions office who loves literature and language, returns to his alma mater to attend a retirement ceremony for a beloved professor. While there he meets 19-year old Zibby, whose love of literature thrills him. They become pen pals, among other things.

I also wanted to add this trailer for all the indie-rom-com lovers out there:

" To die by your side, is such a heavenly way to die!"
(This movie soundtrack happens to be the soundtrack to my life sometimes. )

Cheers and Keep Warm!

Monster Prints

A little known fact about me, I love holidays! Not only do you get an excuse to NOT do work, but to also decorate the house/desk/car/self with the appropriate theme given! I was surfing the web and I came across some amazing movie monster themed prints that I found from collider.com!
Society6.com
Who more appropriate to represent the holiday of Halloween than director/writer/producer Tim Burton! Of course you can mention, Wes Craven ( Nightmare on Elm Street, Hills Have Eyes) and John Carpenter, the man wrote the screenplay for Halloween (1978), and a slew of other scary directors/writers! But I like Tim Burton because of his cryptic, surreal, imaginative, and animated visions of "scary". Amazingly, and appropriately, his movies are for the whole family, and I very much appreciate the ability to sit through his movies without flinching . . . too much.

Sick in Bed

chicken noodle soup indeed!
Society6.com
As my title so obviously points out, I'm coughing and sneezing in bed, and I hate it! I don't know about you, but I'll get sick from the slightest change in the weather (i.e right now!) or allergies. My best friends during this horrible time, are "Campbell's chicken noodle soup" and my "Meg Ryan/Tom Hanks DVD collection".  They get me through everything. When I'm sick, I get sappy and movies that have any "sick in bed" scenes, just get me!

Here are my Top 5 "Sick in Bed" Movies:

1) You've Got Mail (1998)

This movie starred Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan. Remake of the film "Shop Around the Corner" (1940) , and it's one of the best enemies turned lovers film that I'll ever watch. It always makes me feel much better, and I wished I had a dog to walk around the parks of Manhattan during the fall.

Fave Trailers of the Week

HEY! back from my fall hiatus and I must update you on some of my most anticipated films for 2013. I love trailer season and weirdly enough I have this obsession with any actor who plays with a British accent or who IS British. It's so dashingly sexy. Here we go:

GAMBIT
"let us get down!"-Snape

I am always excited for any film that involves Colin Firth, who plays a seemingly meek art curator that works for an awful+eccentric boss Alan Rickman (aka Professor Snape). Firth's character plans to get revenge on his boss and enlists the help of a "real cow girl", played by Cameron Diaz. Together they con Rickman's character into buying a fake Monet. It's written by the greatness that is Joel and Ethan Coen (No Country for Old Man, Burn After Reading) and directed by Michael Hoffman. I haven't seen Diaz in alot of movies this year, I mean if you count "what to expect when you're expecting" back in the spring and  "Bad Teacher" in 2011. She looks like the perfect Texas Rodeo Queen, I have no doubt that her acting will be superb!Alan Rickman is hilarious in the trailer, mostly because I've never seem him play anything other than serious and sinister, it's refreshing to see him play the "weird boss you wished you'd kill because he made your life a living hell". oh wait, that does sound familiar. . .Unfairly enough, this movie will be in theaters in the UK on November 21 2012, but it won't be available for us North Americans until early 2013.

Here is the official sypnosis:

The story centers on British art curator Harry Deane (Firth) who devises a finely-crafted scheme to con England’s richest man and avid art collector, Lionel Shabandar, (Rickman) into purchasing a fake Monet painting.  In order to bait his buyer, he recruits a Texas rodeo queen (Diaz) to cross the pond and pose as a woman whose grandfather liberated the painting at the end of WWII.

Wasteland

"Must be pretty bloody impressive"

This is a British heist movie, which I'm super excited for as well. The tone of the movie seems much more serious than the above trailer, but I bet that it'll be bloody great! I must admit that the only reason that I played the trailer was because of my admiration for grown  up Neville Longbottom, played by Matthew Lewis. I was happy that I clicked on the play button because this movie has all the suspense, action, sex and "magic" tricks of a good heist film. This movie stars Timothy Spall (Harry Potter), Luke Treadaway (Clash of the Titans), and Vanessa Kirby . I don't watch much British films or series, which I'm starting to change, so these names might not sound very familiar. However, newcomers are always the best to watch, because you go in with no expectation and somehow they always seem to exceed them! In theaters in the UK fall 2012.

Here is the official synopsis:

Battered, bruised and under arrest, Harvey Miller sits in a police interview room facing interrogation. Clutching a stack of eyewitness statements, Detective Inspector West has no doubt as to Harvey’s part in a foiled robbery, and his subsequent attempted murder of local businessman Steven Roper. Denying nothing, Harvey agrees to tell his version of events in full. As the story unfolds, we discover that a malevolent and unjust act perpetrated by Roper put Harvey in prison and now he has a score to settle.

Following an emotional reunion with his best friends, Harvey sets about finding the girl he left behind, determined to rekindle their romance. What follows is the ingenious and elaborate blueprint of a master plan which Harvey hopes will deliver revenge on his old adversary as well as giving him and his friends the opportunity to start a new life abroad. After weeks of meticulous planning, the boys set the plan in motion. What unfolds is a tense and exhilarating heist of unexpected proportions. A story of loyalty, jealousy, friendship, revenge and the pursuit of happiness.

Enjoy Lads!

The Man that Broke Batman

Olly Moss Dark Knight Prints

I saw the Dark Knight Rises at the premiere showing 12am Friday morning. Was I excited? nope. Was I peeing in my pants and hyperventilating? HELLS YES.  It was by far one of the best summer movie anticipations of the year and I was not disappointed, quite the contrary, my mind was inception-ed and I loved it! Christopher Nolan has become the A-lister director of Hollywood, and on IMDB all of his movies have made it in the top 250 movies of ALL TIME! I don't know what to expect from this man, but it'll always be a great surprise.

Whistle-Stop Tour

Will Ferrell and Zack Galifianakis are officially kicking off their Campaign around America! Which is quite  literal and a hilarious way to market their movie called "The Campaign". The two actors are making 11 stops around America, (which includes Toronto on July 30!) taking questions from fans and the press about their movie and in the process, giving a few giggles and laughs, I mean politicians gotta know how to talk and woo right? Well these two are surely woo-ing and LOL-ing their way to the fans and getting a lot of attention for it!

Image taken from Channel 9 News, NBC
It's a very unusual way for them to promote a movie and I think that it fits the theme of the movie perfectly. I'm sure that it's fun for the actors to stand on podiums and giving off hints of their character's persona and how the movie is going to play out. Zack Galifianakis (WOW, try saying that just once! I have trouble spelling it out, let along attempt to say it) has become part of the next generation of Hollywood comedians and he's hilarious in the trailer.

Fave Trailers of the Week

Two trailers that are packed with Hollywood A-listers and exciting talent! Crime and Fantasy, I look forward to both movies!

OZ the Great and Powerful

Are you the great man that we've been waiting for?

Certainly this movie is going to be visually stunning and a big one at that, but I'm most excited for the chemistry and collaborations of the whole cast and director Sam Raimi. This movie stars James Franco, Mila Kunis, Michelle Williams, and Rachel Weisz. Franco plays Oscar Diggs ( aka Wizard of OZ) who lacks luster in his life in Kansas and desires more than being a one-time circus magician. The other three wonderful and beautiful actresses that I've mentioned above will be playing the witches Theodora, Glinda and Evanora, respectively. I just hope that the visuals won't be the only high point of this movie, because as we've seen in 2010's Alice in Wonderland and this year's Snow White and the Huntsman, the scenery was perfect and magical, but the story was entirely made of cheap tricks and illusions. However, I have much hope in the cast, and luckily, they'll transport us far far away from any Kansas boredom! In Theaters March 8, 2013.

Here is the official synopsis:

Disney’s fantastical adventure “Oz The Great and Powerful,” directed by Sam Raimi, imagines the origins of L. Frank Baum’s beloved character, the Wizard of Oz. When Oscar Diggs (James Franco), a small-time circus magician with dubious ethics, is hurled away from dusty Kansas to the vibrant Land of Oz, he thinks he’s hit the jackpot—fame and fortune are his for the taking—that is until he meets three witches, Theodora (Mila Kunis), Evanora (Rachel Weisz) and Glinda (Michelle Williams), who are not convinced he is the great wizard everyone’s been expecting. Reluctantly drawn into the epic problems facing the Land of Oz and its inhabitants, Oscar must find out who is good and who is evil before it is too late. Putting his magical arts to use through illusion, ingenuity—and even a bit of wizardry—Oscar transforms himself not only into the great and powerful Wizard of Oz but into a better man as well.

Gangster Squad

Ba-BANG!

Usually, I'm not a big fan of gangster movies, unless the movie has Al Pacino (pre-2000s!) but this movie has Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling, so I'll make an exception! Sorry, but I truly am stupid, crazy in love with these two (total pun intended!) and the trailer really delivered a bunch of right shots packed with drama, action and suspense! This movie also stars more notable actors, Sean Penn (who had a great prosthetic nose job done for the movie!) Josh Brolin and Nick Nolte. In theaters September 7, 2012.

Here is the official synopsis:

Los Angeles, 1949. Ruthless, Brooklyn-born mob king Mickey Cohen (Sean Penn) runs the show in this town, reaping the ill-gotten gains from the drugs, the guns, the prostitutes and–if he has his way–every wire bet placed west of Chicago. And he does it all with the protection of not only his own paid goons, but also the police and the politicians who are under his control. It’s enough to intimidate even the bravest, street-hardened cop…except, perhaps, for the small, secret crew of LAPD outsiders led by Sgt. John O’Mara (Josh Brolin) and Jerry Wooters (Ryan Gosling), who come together to try to tear Cohen’s world apart. “Gangster Squad” is a colorful retelling of events surrounding the LAPD’s efforts to take back their nascent city from one of the most dangerous mafia bosses of all time.

Enjoy!

Spider-Man, Middle Child with Spunk.

Isn't a movie more appealing when the actor is an actual-real-live-super-fan of the character they're playing and kicking-ass AT playing that character?

Answer is YES!

I recently just watched the reboot of the Spider-man franchise, "The Amazing Spider-Man" starring the amazing Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone and it was AMAZING!

"Cute"
Image from Society6.com

To be honest, I had my doubts about this film because most people were calling it the "middle child" of summer blockbuster movies! You had the release of the Avengers movie in May, the suspension for Scott Ridley's Prometheus and Twi-hards everywhere were anticipating the darker "Snow White and the Huntsmen" in June, and a HUGE crowd waiting forever for the last installment of the "Dark Knight Rises" coming around next week. Poor Spidey was stuck in the middle and there wasn't much hype or "must-see" super fans as there were and are for the other aforementioned movies.

Epic Space Opera

The Force is Strong with This One.

Stars Wars is nerdy. . . WRONG! it's awesome! I recently visited the Stars Wars Identity Exhibition at the Montreal Science Center in Montreal, Quebec and it was one of the BEST exhibitions I've been to in a science center, ever!

For fans of the popular franchise, Lucasfilm limited joined forces with Montreal's X3 Productions to open this ambitious exhibition that allows you to create your own "hero" within the Star Wars realm. At the beginning of the exhibition, I was given a chip-encoded rubber bracelet used to chart my own personal identity at 10 stations in the exhibition. Each station was a discovery of some technological, psychological, and science-y aspect of the world and cultures around you and it's comparisons with the characters and world of Luke and Anakin Skywalker.

Star Wars Identities is at the Montreal Science Centre in the Quays of the Old Port until Sept. 16. Admission: $23 for adults, $13.50 for children aged 4 to 12, and $63 for a family (two adults, two children).

Drive in Prints

A weird train of thought happened to me today,

As you all know (maybe not. . .)  the San Diego Comic Con is coming soon and when I was going through the schedules of panels (sadly I'm not super crazy nerd fan enough to go, or afford to go) I remembered a panel that I was excited for last year, and that was for Drive the movie! Crazy train of thought, I know.

Drive stars Ryan Gosling, Carey Mulligan, Bryan Cranston, and Albert Brooks and opened last year in September. I thought Ryan Gosling should have been nominated for an Oscar for his role as "Driver", actually most the cast should have been nominated! Albert Brooks plays the best anti-villain ever! I highly recommend that you watch this movie because the cast is terrific and you'll just be rooting for this one unconventional hero all the way! I remember checking out their very pink and awesome posters for the movie and I came across some other prints that were just stunning!

I'd have to say that prints play a really big part in introducing the audience to the theme and emotions of a film. You can expect a lot from a piece of movie poster and it's a great little teaser for fans, especially a teaser to the teaser trailer, which is a teaser for the actual trailer, which is the teaser for the film...sorry... I'm on this thought wagon that's just circling.

If you haven't seen the Drive posters yet, here you go! There are two limited edition posters of the movie with the full cast, you can find them at this website: Society6. They have a wide collection of art and they have some pretty good Movies&TVs, and Sci-Fi prints.

I also added some songs from their soundtrack, which is one of my FAVOURITE movie soundtracks of all time! I hope you enjoy the songs as well!

Thanks!

Fave Trailers of the Week

I came across some of the most heart whelming trailers this week. First off:

ROBOT AND FRANK
Friendship doesn't have an an off switch.

This movie is about a retired jewel thief and his new found companionship in a robot. The movie stars Frank Langella, Susan Sarandon, James Marsden and Peter Sarsgaard voices "Robot". The movie trailer reminded me of "Wall-E"and a connecting theme of discovering friendships and compassion from the unexpected and unsuspecting robot! (it's basically Wall-E in live action!) The trailer gives us a hint of a futuristic world, exciting crimes, and good emotional waterworks from a strong ensemble. In theaters August 24 2012

Here is the official synopsis:

Set in the near future, Frank (Frank Langella) a retired jewel thief gets a new lease on life when he is introduced to a surprising new companion. With the help of his new friend, he attempts to woo a local librarian (Susan Sarandon) and resume his criminal escapades.  ROBOT & FRANK is directed by first time filmmaker Jake Schreier, written by Christopher Ford (TVs “Atom TV”), and produced by Galt Niederhoffer, Sam Bisbee, Jackie Kelman Bisbee and Lance Acord.

Here is the trailer:

(After I watched this trailer, I immediately popped Wall-E into the DVD player and had a good moment of "awwwwww"s with thoughts of recycling more. . . Pixar just gets me!)

SILVER LININGS PLAYBOOK
What meds are you on?

This movie stars Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence. DONE! Two of today's most bankable stars, thanks to their charms, good looks, and two little movies called "Hangover" and "Hunger Games", they are rising-A listers in Hollywood. I was so excited during pre-productions when they were casting these two, Cooper and Lawrence play two awkward crazies who somehow find a solution to their "mental" problems with each other and the art of dancing!. . . I LOVE IT!

I just know that this pair will have amazing chemistry together, given that they are ALSO starring in another movie called "Serena" coming out next year. (Side Note: this movie also features Robert De Niro, who does a great comedic dad bit, and comeback comedian Chris Tucker, and am I the only person that is excited for Tucker? he hasn't made a decent movie since the Rush Hour films! GO CHRIS!). In theaters November 21 2012

Here is the official synopsis:

Adapted from the best-selling novel by Matthew Quick, THE SILVER LININGS PLAYBOOK is a touching, one-of-a-kind comedy about love and second chances.

Pat Peoples (Bradley Cooper) is a man always trying to look on the bright side of life – the title of the story takes it’s name from the expression that “every cloud has a silver lining.” Released from the hospital after losing his wife to another man, Pat believes this age-old adage is just the ticket to trying to win her back and get his life on track. Trying to remain resolutely undiscouraged, Pat moves back in with his parents and devotes himself entirely to becoming the man his wife always wanted him to be. But it’s an uphill battle. Until Pat meets Tiffany (Jennifer Lawrence), a beautiful young woman whose life also has not turned out the way she wanted. Together, the couple will try and navigate through their lives and stay true to who they are, always just one adventure away from a unique friendship, and possibly even love.

I have to say that I am becoming a big fan of Jennifer Lawrence, she is by far one of the most versatile actress that hasn't been chained down by big blockbuster franchises. I'm sure it's hard for actors who are so much associated with one role (Harry Potter-Daniel Radclifff) that it's hard for audiences to take them seriously in another persona. However, when Lawrence acts in a role, we don't see Katniss, but we see another character!  I look at Lawrence and I see: Mystique from "X-Men First Class", Ree from "Winter's Bone", and so much more to look forward to in the future!

Thanks!

Fave Trailers of the Week

I decided to share my favourite trailers for upcoming movies each week! Here you go!

Perfect Pitch
Get Pitched Slap!

This adult/glee/musical movie stars Anna Kendrick, Brittany Snow, Christopher Mintz-Plasse and newcomer Rebel WilsonSide note: Rebel Wilson has officially become one of my favourite female comedian eversince her roles in "Bridesmaids" and "What to Expect When You're Expecting", she is hilarious in this trailer. In Theaters October 5 2012.

Here is the official synopsis:

Beca (Anna Kendrick) is that girl who’d rather listen to what’s coming out of her headphones than what’s coming out of you.  Arriving at her new college, she finds herself not right for any clique but somehow is muscled into one that she never would have picked on her own: alongside mean girls, sweet girls and weird girls whose only thing in common is how good they sound when they sing together, in the new out-loud comedy Pitch Perfect.
When Beca takes this acoustic singing group out of their world of traditional arrangements and perfect harmonies into all-new mash-ups, they fight to climb their way to the top of the cutthroat world of college a cappella.  This could wind up either the coolest thing they’ll ever do or the most insane, and it will probably be a little of both.
Loaded with new takes on old favorites to hits of right now that are seamlessly mixed together, mashed-up and arranged like you’ve never heard before, Pitch Perfect is directed by Jason Moore, who opened our eyes to the very misbehaved life of puppets in the surprise Broadway sensation Avenue Q.

This movie seems hilarious and Anna Kendrick has been acing all her movie roles, ever since her 2009 Oscar-nominated role in "Up in the Air".

Farewell, My Queen
Let Them Eat Cake

Another french period drama, starring the beautiful Diane Kruger and Lea Seydoux, both ladies were featured in Quentin Tarantino's 2009 "Inglourious Basterds". Seydoux and Kruger are both captivating in the trailer and I just love french actresses. Seydoux was so adorable in "Midnight in Paris"  and quite the villain in "Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol". I'm excited to see her play meatier roles as opposed to supportive ones. This movie is in Theaters July 13 2012

Here is the official sypnosis:

FAREWELL, MY QUEEN marks the return of acclaimed director Benoit Jacquot (A Single Girl, Seventh Heaven, Sade, Deep in the Woods,) and brilliantly captures the passions, debauchery, occasional glimpses of nobility and ultimately the chaos that engulfed the court of Marie Antoinette in the final days before the full-scale outbreak of the Revolution. Based on the best-selling novel by Chantal Thomas, the film stars Lea Seydoux as one of Marie's ladies-in-waiting, seemingly an innocent but quietly working her way into her mistress's special favors, until history tosses her fate onto a decidedly different path. With the action moving effortlessly from the gilded drawing rooms of the nobles to the back quarters of those who serve them, this is a period film at once accurate and sumptuous in its visual details and modern in its emotions. Diane Kruger's gives her best performance to date as the ill-fated Queen and Virginie Ledoyen is the Queen's special friend Gabrielle de Polignac.

Enjoy!

Babyvamp Jess is BACK!

She's ready to party and "drink" some blood!

For all you bloodsucking Trueblood fans out there! Season 5 is here and it's mindblowing! The first episode came out yesterday and Babyvamp Jessica and her vblog is back by popular demand! It's a great way to get fans (such as myself! 1 heart Eric forever!) to visit the HBO Trueblood site or get our fill of Trueblood during the week while we wait for the next episode. It's also a very easy and cheap way for producers to reach out more to their savy blogging, youtubing audience. Great mini entertainment and great way to get fans more attached to the characters and the show!

These mini vblogs are done by the actress Deborah Ann Woll as Jessica Hamby, our favourite baby vampire character in the show. They are the cutest videos ever and the ones that were done last season had some other characters (Pam,Bill) on set as well. The producers really took the time to make these videos as real as possible, as if Jess the vampire was actually blogging to the world.

Last season, we saw some nice special "vampire" effects in her 2 minute videos and sometimes we see her drink some "Trueblood", it was very cool and "OMG" moments for fans such as myself. This also acts as a nice recap after every episode and to see it described through her point of view. I wished more shows did this sort of "to the side" entertainment, it takes very little time for the actors to, most likely, improvise their dialogue and get fans twitting, or commenting.

I'm looking forward to watching more vblogs on a dead girl's guide through life! A great addition to the Trueblood world and a great way for fans to sink our teeth into the show even more!

Check out her website:

Are Holograms the New Reality?

I just read an article on The Hollywood Reporter  about Tupac's Resurrection at this year's Coachella Music Festival. I'm not a big rap fan, but last time I checked that rapper was dead. However thanks to the new technology in media, your favourite singer/actor can come back to life and  perform anything you want! The technology is quite simple to understand (if you're not me) but for Tupac's performance the crew used this technology called Pepper's Ghost, which apparently has been around since the 1500s! It's a 2D illusionary technique, so technically not a perfect hologram since holograms are 3D, but it has the same great "OMG" effect for fans.

According to THR, there is to be a Marilyn Monroe Virtual Live Concert before the end of the year. Of course there is a bunch of legal issues before this can happen, but once it passes, record labels can make any of their deceased (for lack of better word) performers come back from the grave and hold virtual live concerts! It think that it would be amazing for older generations to relive their favourite music moments but would it be a great experience for the young kids of today? The generation that is obsessed with the Justin Bieber, One Direction boys bands. Hmm, I wonder if Frank Sinatra would mind doing a duet with Carly Rae Jepsen?

Personally, I don't think that resurrecting entertainers to compete with the talent that we have today is such a great idea. First, once  you have the power to make an actor do anything you want, there are so many opportunities for exploiting and possibly ruining their well respected brand image. Second, the actors and actresses today have so much potential! It's probably hard enough during casting calls, now they're going to compete with the dead? Sure Marlon Brando is a great, great, fantastic Oscar-winner, but let's give Peter O'Toole a chance! (side joke: Peter O'Toole has been acting for over 80 years, with 8 Oscar nominations...it's a rough life) Third, I'm sure that holograms are going to be more realistic in the future, but how realistic will you feel when you know that the tears coming from the "hologram's" face was produced? Sure it would be easy to market the real but not real Marilyn in theaters given her famous star power already, but to what extent? Will she be programmed to answer pre-determined questions during interviews and walk down the red carpet alongside her colleagues? Well we'll have to see.

Currently in Japan, this music company called Crypton Future Media has developed the next sensation in Japanese pop music. By using the voice of Japanese actress Saki Fujita, they are able to synthesize the voice of a holographic singer called Hatsune Miku. She is amazingly popular in Japan, with fans waving their glow sticks and singing along at her sold-out concerts.

Is this going to be the future of our entertainment world? Synthesized smokes and mirrors?

Interactive Movie Trailer!

Hey all!

I totally forgot to mention that the new Snow White and the Huntsman movie released this new interactive trailer, where people can click on the scenes and behind-the-scenes images, short videos, or comments can be seen. This is so brilliant, fans can become more involved with the movie and it's a great way to generate interest and word of mouth. The studio did a great job with this new trailer, I hope that more epic movies will follow this interactive trend.

My dear, dear Snow White

Hey!

Very exciting reminder for all you fairy tale lovers out there! the new Snow White and the Huntsman movie is arriving this Friday! Starring Kristen Stewart, Charlize Theron, Thor Chris Hemsworth, and hottie newcomer Ian Shane. I'm super pumped for this movie because of so many reasons. When I saw the trailer a few months back, I was so stoked at the artsy visual effects and stunning location filming (I love it when filming locations are at ACTUAL locations and not in studios where forests need to be CGI-ed) It had the beautiful, magical creatures similar to some of Guillermo Del Toro's work (one of my favourite directors/writers) and the whole cast and crew is so talented. Did I mention that the script was helmed by John Lee Hancock (the Blind Side), Evan Daugherty (the Killing Season) and Hossein Amini (Drive)?

I think the producers of this SWATH movie really knew what they were doing, compared to the other Snow White movie, Mirror Mirror, starring Lily Collins, Armie Hammer and Julia Roberts (who had this ridiculous accent, I couldn't tell if she was British or American). The movie bombed at the box office, and it's still not doing well, having earned to date $62 million (approx) and a starting production budget of $85 million. The movie was directed by Tarsem Singh, the director of 2011's Immortals, so you can expect very soft and gold visuals and settings. When I watched the trailer for Mirror, Mirror it had a large dance number, very "Bollywood" inspired I would say but the overall feel of the movie was totally kid-ish. It probably drew in the younger-teen demographic but not many went to see it.

Now with this upcoming Snow White movie, I would say that it's a recipe for success! It has Kristen Stewart (so you can bet your teens and twi-hard fans are going) Thor (who is still kicking butt at the box office in the Avengers! drawing in the boys/men) and Charlize Theron, she's an Oscar-winner and she just adopted a baby so enough said. The feel of this movie is much more darker but it got the gold rating of PG-13 (so basically anyone can go, over 13 years of age). Let's hope that Universal Studios will do well with this picture, considering Battleship totally sunk.

Here are both trailers, you can compare the two:

The Heart Attack

HELLO WORLD!

I've been vacationing around and I just had to share some amazing food photos with you all, because they're so mouth-watering! (Thanks Instagram!)

I went to this restaurant in Montreal, Quebec called Poutineville and they have some of the BEST POUTINE EVER!!. For those of you who are not Canadian, or have not visited Canada, or have been living under a rock and recently discovered the world wide web, let me explain to you the intricate mechanics of a poutine. You add french fries + gravy + cheese curds (no other cheese is permitted!) and VOILA! This resto makes the best poutines and with such a variety of choices.

At Poutineville, you can pick your choice of fries (smashed fries-it's they specialty, sweet and normal cut fries) with 5 different types of gravy (including red wine gravy..how awesome is that!) and a variety of meats, ranging from hot dog pieces to steak triple A, and a whole lot of veggies! Check out my awesome night out!

The sample platter of smashed potatoe fries with red wine gravy, and sweet potatoe fries with black pepper sauce, both covered in cheese curds!

To finish the meal off, I always love a good sweet. Macaroons will do the trick. There's this cute place, also in Montreal, called Point G where they sell the best macaroons and homemade confectioneries! Here is their beautiful wheel of flavours:

Voila ici, are my yummy macaroons: (I forgot which flavours I got, but that's why I added the wheel up there for you!)

A very foodie blog post today. But I want to leave you with this "glutton for punishment" video on Youtube. If you didn't know, Poutineville has this dish called "the heart attack" where it's this huge plate the size of a baby pig, of fries+every kind of meat in Quebec+A LOT of pig fat.

I am not exaggerating, check out the video and you'll want to run on the tread mill afterwards! It's a very fitting challenge for the guys at Epic Meal Time, (don't worry, not one actually got a heart attack...yet)

Stupid is as stupid does

Hello! Welcome to this insane blogging creation for my passion of movies, marketing and munchies. (Munchies as in food, I was going for perfect alliteration). If you enjoy watching films and eating than I have a feeling that we'll be good friends! Hi friends! Now that we're kind of intimate, I'll love to share with you some of my food adventures and if I dare say, some secret recipes.

I also have this huge fascination for how studios market and brand their movies. Successful movie marketing has a big correlation with successful box office results, sadly even if the film sucks, (aka Twilight, don't worry fans, I also went to watch all their movies...RPATZ PR got to me too), Studios are getting more brilliant with the way they try to get audiences engaged, especially with the huge boom, continual boom, in new media and good ol' fashion mass media (that's television and anything that will grab the attention of the mass population).

I hope you'll tune in my blog in the future, because cool pictures, videos and ideas will be posted. That means you wont need to finish reading my blurbs. I'm cool with that, as long as you enjoy the show.

So, I will leave you with this awesome new pre-show promo for Cineplex's Brand Anthem "What's your movie moment?" created by this Toronto ad agency called Cloud AdAgents. If you guessed already, mine is from Forest Gump, what's yours?
